I can see hope for Spring - the snow is melting, though we still have temps in the teens at night and frost in the morning.  Still, with each passing day, we’re that much closer.

10 degrees and foggy
It was 10 degrees and foggy this morning, which produced Hoar frost on the trees and created some interesting photo ops right out the back of our property.  Definitely monochrome, low contrast and limited depth of field.  However, I think it accurately captures Winter here in Wisconsin.

Winter in Wisconsin
Winter is here, having covered pretty much everything with at least a foot of snow.  For Christmas, we got a mix of precipitation in every form it can take, except hail.  I need to get out and scout some new subjects.  Though there’s no shortage of idyllic scenes here, the snow seems to make all the frames look the same.

Color, or not?
The current trend in digital photographic workflow is to take all images in color and covert chosen frames to monochrome.  Being from the film-age, I still compose an image in terms of whether or not it warrants color and make the decision before I open the shutter.  There are times when I will shoot the same thing in both color and monochrome.  However, some images have shapes and textures that...
